Msgr. Lara Youth Center
Building Update for August 2010
The construction team has been working on the following for the past two weeks:
- Pour 2” surface on top of core slab.
- Pour interior footers and pads.
- Complete underground electrical within Youth Center.
- Work on interior mason stem walls.
- Complete first lift of block around core slab.
- Receive steel columns and begin setting at the east and north entrance ways.
- Receive delivery of building siding panels.
- Complete backfill around utilities and begin working on preparation of sub base for slab on grade concrete pour.
- Complete termite treatment, installation of visquene liner and placement of wire mesh.
- Complete final sub base inspection and prepare for slab pour.
- Begin concrete pour of slab on grade within youth center area of building (everything east of the interior partition wall).
August 7 – August 13
The construction team will be working on the following activities:
- Prep and pour ribbon slab within gym
- Begin to erect red iron (steel structures)
Crane will be on-site to install the steel at the Youth Center area.
August 14 – August 20 (1 week outlook)
The construction team will continue working on the following activities from the previous week:
- Finalize steel erecting.
- Crews to work the remaining portion of the week bolting and squaring frame.
Other Updates:
Our contractor will begin steel erecting during the week of August 7 – August 13 lasting through roughly August 17.
There will be a lot of heavy metal movement and the use of steel moving equipment, including a large crane. Please keep a
clear distance from the construction zone during this period of time!
- Construction activities will be taking place from eastbound lane periodically as needed for the next several weeks.
- The traffic shift will consist of: All traffic traveling east and westbound from either the school or Bryan road, shifting to a temporary dirt roadway along the former grass shoulder.

Construction fence will be utilized to block off the asphalt roadway adjacent to the building
construction. Signs will be installed on the fence directing traffic in the appropriate direction. - Silt fence will be utilized as a visual aid to define the northern boarder of the temporary roadway.
Continue to check the bulletin and website for various updates, especially trafficflow and parking recommendations throughout the duration of the project.
